Why do Christians communicate the Gospel through the Arts?
Wintershall’s RE Enquiry Unit supports specific KS1 and KS2 Core learning outcomes within Understanding Christianity (UC). It serves as an additional unit to extend learning and is structured around the core elements: Making sense of the text, Understanding the impact and Making connections. It is designed to be used flexibly either as a whole unit of work or as a series of themed learning activities as an option for ‘Digging Deeper’ within the UC Gospel units.
It is the intention of this unit to focus on what beliefs motivate Christian’s to use different art forms to communicate the Gospel. The unit uses a selection of exciting resources from the Wintershall productions, including behind the scenes images, interviews and film clips.
There are also opportunities within this unit to:
- investigate examples of a range of contemporary Christian art forms with reference to their historical precedents that seek to communicate the Gospel (for example Wintershall’s outdoor Biblical productions such as ‘The Life of Christ’)
- to reflect on the impact of these art forms used by Christians and non-believers.
