This easy to use, teacher-friendly material has been written by a group of experienced diocesan advisors. It follows on from successful trialling in schools in England and Wales and is based on the theological foundations of the Second Vatican Council, the Catholic Catechism and the revised RE Curriculum Directory and includes the Catholic attainment levels. The Catechism of the Catholic Church addresses the search for meaning in life. God’s initiative in Revelation who comes to meet us and our response of faith. (cf. CCC26) This pattern guides the structure of the programme and informs the process of each topic, opened up through; Explore, Reveal and Respond.
Sarah Fiest Primary Adviser for Arundel & Brighton RC Diocese explains how Wintershall’s RE and Virtues Enquiry material supports learning through the Come and See programme:
As the Primary Adviser for Arundel & Brighton Diocese we are constantly searching for ways that will allow all pupils in our care to benefit from a values led education. The Wintershall project and supporting excellent education materials are encouraged to be used by all schools in our Diocese to support their RE and PSHE curriculum. They also contribute to their spiritual growth, allowing them to become fully human and understand the importance of how they can contribute to living in the very diverse world we have today constantly striving to be better citizens.
Our schools are proud to have Gospel Values underpinning their whole ethos and curriculum and Wintershall materials support this ethos. Many of our schools benefit from attending the Life of Christ performance in the summer and the Nativity in the winter. They all report back how valuable and at times life changing attending these performances have been. One of our younger teachers still remembers the impact of being at the Life of Christ to this day!
Our curriculum ‘Come & See’ in the Primary schools and ‘People of God’ in the secondary schools benefit from the excellent visuals and videos produced by Wintershall to engage and enthuse our pupils, allowing them first hand experiences from others.
