We value comments from teachers and pupils about our assemblies to inspire other schools and help us to improve the quality of what we offer.
Here are some sample comments from schools:
“I learnt Jesus loves everyone, good and bad”
I felt excited and surprised.
Jesus is a teacher and a learner – he has learnt how to respect others.
“The Rich Man made me think it is mean to keep everything to yourself.”

The children acknowledge that the language was challenging but they liked that the original scripture was used- one commented that ‘Do I smell like a camel?’ is not in the Bible! They were fully engaged with the stories.
They had many discussions about the camel through the eye of a needle. Children found this challenging.
Children felt sorry for the blind man.
The actors made them laugh.
Lots of children commented on the element of surprise and how that added a lot to the excitement of the assembly.
They understood about the importance of giving to the poor.
The deputy head heard children retelling the story at break and lunchtime.
Many children asked if we could do it again.
They all enjoyed it and gained a lot from it.
Children liked the music.
They felt sad that the Rich Man would have to give things up.
Children selected which reflection questions to answer- and they self selected the more challenging ones e.g. ‘What challenged you? What does this tell us about Jesus?’
Children remembered a lot of the direct quotes- particularly about the camel!
Children said that the actors showed a lot of expression and emotion and this helped them to understand the stories.
Children enjoyed the assembly.
Good amount of humour.
The children liked not knowing what to expect and liked learning new stories.
Year 3’s staged the discussions as a circle time.
Year 3’s insight was brilliant. They understood a lot after talking through the story with their teachers.
