We have carried out a pilot (phase 1) of the Character Education resources as a series of Virtues & Values Enquiry Days in community and C of E Primary schools in Surrey. The material has been well received by all schools.
Please click here to see a slideshow for each school that took part in the phase 1 pilot to give you a flavour of the pupil’s engagement in different activities as well as some of their outcomes.
Endorsements and Teachers comments about these new Virtues and Values Enquiry Resources:
The Diocese of Arundel and Brighton Education department suggests use of these resources “to deepen and enhance the ‘Come and See’ and ‘The Way, The Truth and The Life’ RE programme to enable pupils to engage and respond to Questions of Life, to show how their own and other’s decisions are informed by beliefs and values”
Jane Whittington, The Diocese of Guildford Board of Education recommends that “Wintershall’s Character Education materials enable pupils of all ages to make the link between the Christian values as seen in the lives of the Biblical characters and their own lives today. This fits well with the Pause Day approach that is already familiar to our diocesan schools.”
Teacher’s comments – “Inspirational photos, video clips and creative activities to stimulate and engage pupils, challenging their ideas and thinking as well as deepening understanding.”
